
Mehitabel was created in 1916 by Don Marquis. She was as a fictional alley cat who appeared in The Saturday Evening Post along with her sidekick Archy. There is book of collected cartoons still in print. Mehitabel was an alley cat with a celebrated past. She claimed to have been Cleopatra in a previous life.
