On this Throwback Thursday, we present a story of The Single Black Female…. and as the story goes… an ad was allegedly placed in a singles section of The Atlanta Journal (see below). Over 15,000 men answered the ad and it believed that they called a (now unknown) Humane Society who had an 8 week old Black Lab puppy ready for adoption. The story circulated on the internet and in emails from 2003 on. It’s authenticity is still in question but a great story never-the-less.

“SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, and cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I’m yours. Call (xxx) xxx-xxxx. I’ll be waiting….”
