What is the Native American Indian Dog (NAID)?

The original Native American Indian Dog, also referred to as the North American Indian Dog, is extinct. Today however, with the aid of historical documents, the NAID is carefully bred to re-create the look, spirit, duty, and activities — including search and rescue, guarding livestock, and herding — of the original dogs. Many resemble wolves. The NAID is a working dog who is alert with a strong pack instinct, but gentle and affectionate with their human companions. They are smart, loyal, affectionate, good-natured and make excellent family dogs.
