The NEW Grumpy Cat

The ‘New Grumpy Cat’ is a 5 year old male named Sushi.

Sushi was found as a kitten wandering the streets of Brazil, adopted, and is being cared for by his loving owner. He has a permanently sad face due to a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Sushi’s face skin is very flexible, especially on his cheeks — as-well-as on his arms. His skin is dry and itchy which requires daily moisturizing. He is also on a special diet. Sushi has 3 siblings and according to his human mom he does not seem unhappy. Sushi has been compared to internet sensation Grumpy Cat. (see below)

Grumpy Cat soared to fame and became a worldwide sensation in 2012 when her frowning face was shared on the internet. In May 14, 2019 she passed away at the age of 7. Grumpy Cat, whose real name was “Tardar Sauce,” died peacefully at home after contracting a urinary tract infection. She captivated millions of internet users with her iconic frown, which was likely due to feline dwarfism.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a connective tissue disorders resulting in defective collagen synthesis.
