The First Official Cat Show

The First Official Cat Show was held in Great Britain at the Crystal Palace in 1871. Harrison Weir formulated the idea to establish a set of standards by which domestic and fancy cats could be judged.

The Persian cat is a long-haired breed of cat characterized by a round face and short muzzle. They are gentle, quiet and docile but can be discriminating in their affection, only giving their attention to people they trust.

Pictured above is Fulmer Zaida the famous long-haired Persian champion show cat, born in 1895 and who earned over 150 awards in her lifetime.
